MONDAY CIP part one at Ju Eng nursing home for the elderly. hmm, it wasn't quite what i expected.. the elderly there were all wheel chair bound. the atmosphere was... tense. so first thing we had to do was interact with them, which was quite hard because of language barriers, and most of them looked kinda hostile :/
picture this: a big canteen with square tables, each table with around 5 old people, all staring in to space, NOT talking to one another, just waiting for their meals. and this cycle repeats itself EVERYDAY, at least TWICE a day.
their schedule for every single day never changes. wake up - shower - wait for early lunch - nap - wait for dinner - activity - sleep. and hardly anyone talks to them. they're just. waiting for something.
after this visit, i felt like i didn't want to end up in an old folk's home, and i wouldn't let my parents either. but maybe this home is different from other homes, cause its a ciriteria to be wheelchair bound and inactive and all to be able to enter the home.
feeding time, i was helping an old lady eat. she was blind, and was eating very slowly. she was the last one to finish her porridge (which doesnt look the least appetising, trust me) & in the end the nurse was like stuffin the porridge into her mouth asking her to eat faster and everything, push her face abit to call her to wake up.
she feed until all over her mouth & nose got the porridge.. it was very harsh! i was on the verge of tears after seeing that. wouldn't you be? it wasn't a very nice experience to go there and not be able to help much..
after that we went to have roti prata at jalan kayu, cause the home was just nearby. it was very very yummy (: just like the time we went there to have it during bike hike. so i took bus then mrt home.
btw,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HOYEE! :DHAPPY BIRTHDAY ZHENZHOU! :D
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HILDA! ;DTODAYCIP part two. today we gave out more stuff to eat like raisins and sweets. some of them recognised us! so we performed our songs, but it was kind of 冷场... HAHA. but some were banging the tables, one of them screamed, and at least they turned to look at us. hahaha erm yeah they don't have the ability to clap and scream but i think they appreciated the performance anyway xD
so today i interacted more.. hoyee jason and i were chatting with one middle aged guy called John Ee. he speaks english and hokkien, so he was saying the tv always show chinese channels, we asked him how he got injured and he said the 'rascal' attacked him in his sleep.. we asked him to sing and he said,"i can't" hahaha. everything we asked him he say"i can't".
it was really nice talking to him. he asked me if i went swimming often, and said maybe my mum drank wrong medicine when she was pregnant ahaha! he can only look straight, his neck, arms and legs cannot move.
feeding time, i fed the same old lady again! :D today was better and she finished most of her porridge, that was quite watery. thank goodness i stopped feeding, and the nurse also didnt force the rest down on her. i feel quite sad.. i want to ask her what's wrong, how is life in the home... i think i would have felt happier if i knew what she was feeling.
so i guess this is the end of cip. maybe i can come back to visit after exams? yup.
went to compasspoint & ate yoshinoya. haha they had this funny student meal things, i like the brownie and the drink. and actually the food too lol :D km, next time eat chicken terriyaki better! jason and kiankok need to shave. hoyee and i have facial hair omgz x)
it was pouring when i got to kembangan ): and i had no umbrella, so i ran home in the rain. ahaha it was quite funny, but i guess i'd liked to do it at least once :D now that i know what it feels like, i think next time ill just wait for the rain to stop. lol...
You are twilight.Your exact moment of the day is always changing, because the sun never sets at exactly the same time. You are the romantic moments just after sunset when it's still light enough to see your way around outside, and the sky is a blend of reds, pinks, purples, and blues.
At this time of day, the light has a special way of making even rundown buildings looks like works of art. You're like that, too ? you're always finding beauty and magic in unexpected places. Not only will you wish on the first star you see, somewhere inside, you actually expect that wish to come true.
my result is quite weird.
Bye bye & the visit to the folk's home reminds me of my grandmother :/
And you never got the chance to see how good I've doneAnd you never got to see me back at number oneI wish that you were here to celebrate togetherI wish that we could spend the holidays together;
